The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) will mark today's World Meteorological Day with a scientific forum on "Early Warning and Early Action. Hydrometeorological and climatic information for disaster risk reduction."

This topic emphasizes that not only current information on atmospheric processes is important for reducing damage from natural disasters, but also climate analysis of long-term environmental data, say the organizers from the Institute for Climate, Atmosphere and Water Research at BAS. According to them, this emphasis is important due to the fact that the UN has declared 2022 the Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development.
