For the first time Bulgarian player signs contract with Major League Baseball club

Ioannis Alexandrov is the first Bulgarian baseball player to have signed a contract with a club from the Major Baseball League of USA and Canada. 

The 17-year old catcher and outfielder signed a 6-year contract with Chicago Cubs. The Bulgarian player attracted the attention of scouts from all over America during a training camp in Miami in November. In the 4 months since then he has been living and training in Florida at the academy of former Major League baseball star Carlos Castillo.
