Ömer Alkanoğlu and Marinela Nineva won the Varna marathon

This year the Varna Marathon has a record number of participants - over 760 people have signed up. There were competitors from Great Britain, Germany and Romania.

Ömer Alkanoğlu from Turkey triumphed in the Marathon of Varna in the classic distance of 42.195 km with a time of 2.28:02.

In the ladies' race, the national team runner Marinela Nineva won, crossing the finish line in the port city of Varna with a time of 2.44:26.

In the men's and women's overall standings, she finished in 6th position with a personal best.
