Sofia municipal councilors from Democratic Bulgaria and lawyer Mikhail Petrov from VMRO have demanded that the Sofia Municipality ban the March of the Immortal Regiment initiative because of the war in Ukraine.

The event is scheduled for today by the Immortal Regiment Foundation on the anniversary of Nazi Germany's defeat. The organizers call on the heirs of World War II veterans to bring photos of their relatives who were involved in the anti-fascist struggle, and marches have been announced in Plovdiv, Burgas, Varna and Sofia.

Later today, a march for freedom and peace is planned to take place downtown Sofia, culminating in a demonstration against the Russian invasion of Ukraine in front of the Russian embassy.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities have reported 60 victims of another bombing in Luhansk. According to Luhansk Oblast Governor Serhiy Gaidai, 90 people had taken refuge in the school building in the Ukrainian village of Bilokhorivka, and on Saturday a Russian plane dropped a bomb. 30 people were rescued. There has been no comment from the Russian side.
