German chancellor Olaf Scholz pays visit to Bulgaria

German chancellor Olaf Scholz is arriving on a visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Kiril Petkov.

The two will have a one-on-one meeting, after which the delegations of the two countries are to hold a meeting. The discussions between PM Petkov and Chancellor Scholz will focus on ways to deepen bilateral relations, as well as topical issues from the international and European agenda, including the challenges connected with the war in Ukraine, the energy security of Europe, the European integration of the Western Balkans etc.

This is the first bilateral visit by Chancellor Scholz to Bulgaria. He is coming to this country as part of his Balkan tour, after visiting Kosovo, Serbia, Greece and North Macedonia.
