After the extraordinary meeting of the There is Such a People parliamentary group, Iva Miteva, who was Speaker of the 45th and 46th National Assemblies, announced that she refused to be nominated as Speaker of Parliament.
Miteva pointed out that there was nothing wrong if a new speaker was not elected within the 14-day period specified in the parliamentary rules. According to her, until the situation calms down, the Speaker of Parliament should be a person who will have the support of all MPs.
Iva Miteva also pointed out that she considered the removal of Nikola Minchev a mistake and regretted the announcement by her party-mate Kiril Simeonov that he was leaving the ITN group.
On this occasion, Miteva commented that Prime Minister Kiril Petkov continues to put pressure on MPs from her party and pointed out that checks were launched against her and Lyubomir Karimanski by the State Agency for National Security.
