First gas transmission along second pipeline between Bulgaria and Greece conducted as trial

The trial transfer of Azeri gas from Greece to Bulgaria via the Komotini-Stara Zagora interconnector has started, BNR correspondent in Greece Katya Peeva announced. 

A trial quantity will be transmitted by the end of June. The supply of the agreed quantities by Bulgaria of 1 billion cubic meters of gas will start on July 1, experts in Greece inform.

The Bulgarian side is also a shareholder with a 20% stake in the liquefied gas terminal under construction near Alexandroupolis. The gas connection at Komotini, as well as the terminal near Alexandroupolis, enable Bulgaria and the countries in the region to receive natural gas along the Southern Gas Corridor.
