Number of domestic violence cases on the rise

The number of cases of domestic violence has risen significantly, Justice Minister Nadezhda Yordanova said. The minister met with women in the prison of Sliven who identified themselves as victims of domestic violence. According to the minister, victims often commit crimes, so it was important for the state to provide them with better protection and ensure prevention.

The Ministry of Justice have drafted a bill that provides for easier access to justice, as well as the establishment of a national information system and a national register of domestic violence cases, it was reported.
