Rise in number of foreign tourists marked at start of summer

A 30-percent rise in the number of foreign tourists to the Bulgarian Black Sea coast was marked in the first half of June in comparison to the same period of 2021, Deputy Minister of Tourism Irena Georgieva said, BTA reported.

However, the chaos at airports across Europe is already affecting Bulgarian airports. A number of flights arrive late and some have been canceled. Flights to and from the UK are most affected. Varna Airport and the restaurants there are crowded. Passengers are nervous because of the long waiting.

The reason for delays and canceled flights are strikes in the industry and the lack of employees in the UK, Germany and the Netherlands, caused by layoffs during the pandemic.
