EU authorities call for inquiry over Uber company scandal

The scandal over the illegal lobbying for the Uber company will prolong the political season in Brussels, Bulgaria's MEP Andrey Novakov commented. He told BNR that the Transport Committee in the European Parliament needs to discuss the facts and request a decision from the European Commission on the case.

"The first person who owes serious explanation is French President Emmanuel Macron from the time he was Minister of the Economy. Lest it turn out that we were right all this time - that the Mobility package that was invented, initiated, supported and pushed by Macron, is also a lobbyist legislation creating advantages for some companies, for example French companies, over others such as Bulgarian companies for example. Because that's how it looks at the moment," said Novakov.

He also expressed indignation at the actions of former Dutch European Commissioner Neelie Kroes.
