The Ministry of Defence has ensured full possible transparency of the entire process for the purchase of the second batch of F-16 aircraft.

On social media, outgoing Defence Minister Dragomir Zakov pointed out that Bulgaria’s request about the deal has been sent a year ago by the then caretaker cabinet. Zakov recalls the dates and chronology of the process of informing MPs, the public and cabinet ministers, clarifying that at the operational meeting of the government on Thursday, the development of the negotiations on the purchase of 8 US F-16s was announced as a report, not as a decision.

Zakov's comments were in response to a statement by BSP leader Kornelia Ninova, to BNT, that she only learned about the prepared investment expenditure for the new 8 aircraft at the last government meeting, and then she and the BSP ministers left the meeting.

On this occasion Dragomir Zakov reminded that Bulgaria had to respond to the offer by the beginning of November.
