The number of Parliamentary seats in the constituencies will be based on the 2011 census

The number of Parliamentary seats in the constituencies will be based on the 2011 census, instead of the 2021 census, political analyst Rosen Karadimov said for the Bulgarian National Television in connection with the forthcoming snap election scheduled for October 2.

"There are nine small districts which redistribute one MP more than their actual population", Rosen Karadimov said. However, this will not lead to a serious disproportion in the representativeness of the vote, because the redistribution system does not put the political parties at disadvantage, the political analyst noted.

Professor in Mathematics Mihail Konstantinov added that it would be fair if the country introduces a new constituency “Abroad”, which redistributes 8 to 10 Parliamentary seats. However, this will not change the number of seats for each party.
