Rhythmic gymnast Stiliana Nikolova wins silver medal for Bulgaria in the hoop

Bulgaria's Stiliana Nikolova has won a silver medal at the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship in Sofia. The 17-year-old athlete took part in such a forum for the first time.


Nikolova brought the first medal for Bulgaria on the hoop in world gymnastics after 21 years. The last hoops medalist was Simona Peycheva at the World Championships in Madrid 2001. 

Nikolova played her combination very well and received a score of 33,400 points. The Italian Sofia Raffaelli became the world champion with 34.850, and third was the German Daria Varfolomeev with 32.150.

Nikolova is third in the provisional ranking after the all-around qualifications with a total of 64,450 points
