ATP Sofia Open tennis tournament kicks off today

As of 25 September until 2 October Sofia is hosting the 7th edition of the ATP Sofia Open 2022 tennis tournament. Sunday’s matches begin with qualifiers.

The three Bulgarian contestants are starting their participation directly in the main draw of the tournament. Grigor Dimitrov, 2017 tournament champion is under No. 3 and will compete from the second round. Jannik Sinner, Italy is No. 1. A match between the two is possible at the semi-finals.

Three-times Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka, Switzerland, canceled his participation because of an injury. Wawrinka will be replaced in the main draw by 138th in the ATP ranking Aleksandar Vukic (Australia), who will play in the first round against the Italian Fabio Fognini.
