Bulgaria will not recognize the results of the Russia-backed referendums that are being held in four regions of Ukraine, as they are conducted in violation of international law. Donev pointed out that the position of Bulgaria is in sync with that of the partners in the EU and NATO.
According to the minister, Bulgaria supports the continuation of EU sanctions against Russia. However, Bulgaria will insist that all sanctions that the EU is yet to discuss should go through a detailed analysis, in order to see all their pros and cons. In connection with the events in Ukraine, the Security Council at the Prime Minister’s office will be convened next week.
