Bulgaria’s caretaker cabinet has approved a draft investment expenditure for the acquisition of a second batch of fighter aircraft to the tune of more than USD 1.29 billion. The draft will be submitted to the new Bulgarian Assembly. The money will be used for the acquisition of 8 more F-16 Block 70 fighter jets, aircraft armament, ground equipment and pilot training. VAT, customs duties and transport will be paid separately. The money will be paid in instalments over a period of 10 years.

By acquiring 8 more F-16 aircraft similar to the first 8 F-16s, Bulgaria will be able to build new capabilities. The new fighter aircraft will enable the execution of a wide range of tasks in national and collective formats.
