“The date 1 January, 2024 for Bulgaria’s entry into the Eurozone remains,” said Atanas Pekanov, Deputy Prime Minister for EU Funds Management from the caretaker government in an interview with Nova TV. “All countries in Europe have a high inflation rate, I do not think the inflation criterion is going to be an impediment for the country’s accession to the Eurozone,” he commented.

“We are continuing our work on the date 1 January, 2024 set down by the regular cabinet but a political decision by the parliamentary majority will also be needed,” he added, and explained that the caretaker government is working and will submit to parliament a draft budget for 2023.
