We will not allow the Bulgarian border, which is an external border of the European Union, to be used for domestic political purposes. We are adamant that Bulgaria's rightful place is in the Schengen Area, caretaker Prime Minister Galab Donev said at the beginning of the Council of Ministers meeting.

"The caretaker government’s term of office began with information about problems regarding the control onthe import of animals and goods to the European Union through the "Kaptain Andreevo" border crossing. At the end of our term we are to make a decision to declare parts of the checkpoint a national security site. The aim is to restore the security and quality of control", Premier Donev said.

Parts of the Capitan Andreevo checkpoint, where the state exercises sanitary control, are already subject to national security. The premises have a special access regime and will be guarded by the State Agency for National Security, interim Agriculture Minister Yavor Gechev said after the government meeting.
