Migrant trafficking crime group smashed

Ten people have been apprehended during a specialized operation by the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, the State Agency for National Security and the border police against illegal migration, the prosecutor’s office has announced. Four people have been charged – two Bulgarians and two Iraqis – all of them with a criminal record. The operation took place in the regions of Sofia and Montana. 

Meanwhile, caretaker Deputy Interior Minister Monika Dimitrova-Beecher commented that with the measures taken by the caretaker government the results are there to be seen, and that at this stage the country has dealt with the migratory wave. “The opinion was expressed, at a European level, that Bulgaria does not have such a serious problem with illegal migration,” she said.
