In many francophone countries, citizens' trust in institutions and politicians is significantly decreasing, Bulgaria's Vice President Iliana Iotova said in Tunisia during the discussions within the 18th Francophonie Summit

According to Iotova, distrust is provoked by the lack of results from public actions and by the crisis of values.

According to her, awareness and promotion of the values of Francophonie are necessary - peace, democracy, human rights, equality, solidarity, cultural and linguistic diversity. The vice president called for research into the causes of citizens' mistrust to avoid the tendency to look for alternatives to democracy.

The Vice President spoke with the Secretary General of the International Organization of Francophonie and renewed the invitation to Louise Mushikiwabo to visit Bulgaria.
