President Radev: Blocking Bulgaria and Romania on way to Schengen undermines solidarity

Photo: European Union

The decision to reject Bulgaria and Romania Schengen bids is not fair and undermines the European principles of solidarity and unity. This was what President Rumen Radev said in a video conference call with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.

The conversation initiated by Michel was related to the preparation of the regular meeting of the European Council meeting on December 15. Speaking about the expected discussion between European leaders on the extension of Schengen, Radev said that setting additional requirements for membership, which were outside the objective criteria for admission, was unacceptable.
