Refineries using Russian oil to pay contributions to energy security fund, MPs decide at first reading

Photo: Reuters

At first reading, the National Assembly decided that refineries using Russian oil must make contributions that are to compensate the higher costs for consumers. The amount will be determined by the Council of Ministers and it will be collected in "Security of the Energy System" fund. The money will be used for compensations to consumers, including businesses. "The draft treats everyone equally, so we cannot talk about unfair competition," MP Temenuzka Petkova from GERB said. "Lukoil Neftohim Burgas" is the only refinery that works with Russian oil in this country.
