In January 2023, the film with Bulgarian participation "Luka" will compete in the Big Screen competition at the Rotterdam Film Festival. The co-production between Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, Bulgaria and Armenia is directed by Jessica Woodworth (The King of Belgium, The Barefoot Emperor). The film stars the iconic actress Geraldine Chaplin and the young actor Jonas Smulders in the title role. The cast also includes actors Jan Bijvoet, Samvel Tadevossian, Django Schrevens and Bulgarian actor Valentin Ganev as Commander Gor.

"The film takes the action of the story into the future, into a windswept wasteland, the result of our negligence to climate change... The characters exist in the grip of illusions and time proves their absurdity. Luka's craving for combat and glorygradually settles - he is enchanted by Fort Kairos and his friendship with two of his brothers-in-arms," comments director Jessica Woodworth.

Bulgaria took an active part in the making of the film. Co-producer on the Bulgarian side was Art Fest and the funding was provided by the National Film Centre. The project is supported by the Creative Europe Media Programme of the EU and Euroimage.

"Luka" will also be presented at Sofia Film Fest in 2023.
