Mihail Mihaylov, a gifted translator and radio announcer from Radio Bulgaria’s Spanish language service has passed away. His translations and his work as a radio journalist set the standard for professionalism and Spanish language proficiency.
After graduating Spanish philology at the St. Kliment Ohridski University in Sofia, Mihail Mihaylov started work as translator. At one time he applied his professional skills to assist the Bulgarian engineers in Cuba building a number of infrastructure facilities on the island. But as a professional, Misho left the deepest mark during his years at the BNR’s Spanish language service.
Misho had a huge heart and was a good friend, always ready to help. He possessed an exceptional memory, and a highly distinctive voice. He was always eager to share his knowledge with his coworkers, but also to learn new things!
May he rest in peace!
To honour his memory here is an excerpt from Radio Bulgaria’s New Year show in Spanish, aired at the end of December 2016.
