Bulgarian Parliament has decided to negotiate with the US for new nuclear power

With 112 votes "for", 45 "against" and 39 abstentions, the Bulgarian Parliament has tasked the government with negotiating with the US authorities for the conclusion of an intergovernmental agreement on the construction of a new nuclear power plant at the Kozloduy NPP with AP 1000 technology. 

They spoke out against the decision from the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and Vazrazhdane party. The proposal of "We Continue the Change" that a specific type of reactor should not be mentioned was not accepted. GERB pointed out that the decision does not include the name of the company, but the technology that can be applied. 

Delyan Dobrev and Temenuzhka Petkova emphasized that before an agreement is signed, it must also be presented to the deputies for approval.
