An investigation is underway against an organised crime group with global international criminal activities affecting the interests of citizens of various countries.

Transactions made through the NEXO crypto bank over a 5-year period amounted to USD 94 billion. The group has been operating since 2018 and was set up for the self-serving purpose of tax crimes, money laundering, computer fraud, banking without a license, Siyka Mileva, spokesperson for the General Prosecutor, told BNR.
She added that the pre-trial proceedings initiated are not political and Bulgaria will cooperate with international experts by engaging an independent international auditor to examine in detail the activities of the crypto bank.
