After a prolonged illness, one of the most recognizable voices from Radio Bulgaria’s Bulgarian-language programmes, Ignat Dimitrov has passed away. Besides anchor with Radio Bulgaria, his voice was also on the air, at 3 PM sharp on Horizont channel, with information about the Danube water level.
Through the years, Irzhi, as his friends and coworkers called him, has been editor, anchor, translator and voiceover narrator. For more than three decades his voice was part of Radio Bulgaria’s signature tune in the Bulgarian language. Impeccable in his work, he will also be remembered by his coworkers for his incredible sense of humour, capable of putting a smile on anyone’s face at the hardest of times,
May he rest in peace!
