Each nation is distinguished, first of all, by its language. The mother tongue is also what brings the speakers of that language closer together. We all love our mother tongue, but as we humans are social creatures, we learn other languages and get to know about other cultures, too.

In Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, there are many places where immigrants meet and communicate with their compatriots.

How do the greetings for International Mother Language Day sound in different languages today, 21 February?

We also congratulate you on International Mother Language Day, because our language is the link to our roots and the core of our own identity.

Radio Bulgaria "speaks" to its audience in as many as 11 languages - a diversity that opens the doors of information about and to Bulgaria as our content reaches an audience of millions around the world!

The idea to celebrate February 21 as International Mother Language Day was initiated by... Bangladesh. So thank you for this nice idea and congratulations to all who speak Bengali with: আন্তর্জাতিকমাতৃভাষাদিবসেরশুভেচ্ছা!
