In 2023, Bulgaria marks the 30th anniversary since the country became a full member of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie. In November 1991, the country joined the community as an associate member and two years later, in October 1993, during the 5th Francophone summit on the island of Mauritius, it received the status of a full member.
