The Central Election Commission asked Bulgaria’s caretaker Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev how to proceed on election day if school buildings receive bomb threats. Many polling stations are set up in school and university premises. Earlier, Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev said that the main version of investigators working on case with the bomb threat e-mails sent to schools in Bulgaria is that they are hybrid attacks linked to Russia. The Russian Embassy in Bulgaria rejected a “Russian trace”. “We categorically reject any baseless accusations against our country for carrying out such information attack”, the embassy said.
Bulgaria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has organized the parliamentary elections abroad and does not expect any serious problems. On April 2 Bulgarians abroad can vote in 737 polling stations in 61 countries. Under the new election rules, Bulgaria will have a representative in each polling station and the Foreign Ministry has seconded more than 530 people, the Chairman of the Elections Working Group at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov said for the BNR.
