If Bulgarians were included in the Constitution, our country would not perish. The inclusion of Bulgarians in the basic law does not threaten the sovereignty, independence and the country's European path. This was what President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, said at a joint press conference with the President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, in Skopje, BNT reported.

This is one of the requirements in the protocol signed between Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia in 2022 and a condition for the continuation of the country's European integration. Pendarovski claimed that there were about 3,500 Bulgarians in the country, quoting data from the census from March last year. According to him, a commission will be created as soon as possible to prepare the necessary proposals for changes to the Constitution, BGNES adds.
