A bronze plaque with the inscription “He who falls in the fight for freedom does not die” was added to the monument to revolutionary poet Hristo Botev in Havana, Cuba.
This puts the finishing touches to the bust commemorating the Bulgarian revolutionary which rises in the historic part of old Havana, the Bulgarian embassy in Cuba announced on social media. The inscription – a line from the poem Hadzhi Dimitar – is in two languages, Bulgarian and Spanish.
The monument was inaugurated during the celebrations of the country’s national day, and occupies a central place on the coastal boulevard Avenida del Puerto in the Cuban capital.
More than 300 guests attended the inaugural ceremony – high-ranking officials, diplomats and friends of Bulgaria and Cuba.
