In April, vocal group Spectrum entices audiences with the spring vibes of their new a cappella program in a semi-acoustic version.
The quintet will be performing two concerts in Bulgaria a few weeks before embarking on a Canadian tour. Today, April 7, the venue is the Vladimir Dimitrov-Maistora Art Gallery in Kyustendil. The event is organized by the Marin Goleminov Music Association. Two days later - on 9 April - they will perform a concert in Sofia, at the Credo Bonum Gallery.
Since its foundation in the spring of 2012, the band has been developing its artistic and concert career, establishing its place on the professional music scene in Bulgaria. Free-spirited and experimental without prejudice, their five-voice music is in the style and character of pop, funk, jazz and ethnic with beatboxing.
A number of their landmark concerts, performances and recordings have been broadcast regularly on national television and radio. In 2018, the quintet was fortunate to open for legends Manhattan Transfer in Sofia and received high praise from the American band. In the same year, pop singer-songwriter Orlin Pavlov invited the vocal group to record an a cappella version of the song "A Little More" for his debut album.
The vocal group "Spectrum" has presented an original program at the prestigious jazz festivals Bansko Jazz Fest, "A to Jazz" - Sofia. It has also taken part in forums such as Haskovo Jazz Fest, Jazz under the Stars on the Devetashko Plateau, Jazz Festival "The Yellow Pavements", International Jazz Festival "Varna Summer", club and chamber events.
Recently the band has been performing more and more outside the country. Among the most notable performances for the past two seasons are the solo recitals at the Nisville Jazz Fest in Nis and Singing Bridges in Novi Sad, as well as the debut concert in Berlin, realized in partnership with the Boris Hristov IC and the Bulgarian Cultural Institute-Berlin. They have many collaborations with the most important Bulgarian jazz, folk, pop and rock composers and performers - Theodosii Spasov, Alexander Brazitsov, Lyubomir Denev, Eva Quartet, Hristina Beleva, Vassil Petrov, Antoni Donchev, FSB, as well as with BNR;s Big Band and Symphony Orchestra.
In November 2019, Spectrum Vocal Band released its debut album of original jazz funk "Intersection", and in 2021 - the album "Singerprints", with a new take on beautiful themes from Bulgarian folklore and original compositions.
The five singers Boriana Yordanova, Vesela Morova, Daniel Nikolov, Yanko Yankov and Konstantin Beykov are brought together by a common goal - to create aesthetic and high-quality art, showing the contemporary face of Bulgarian a cappella music.
