This spring, the Botanical Garden in the Bulgarian town of Balchik on the Black Sea coast will bring pleasant emotions to its guests with the so-called "Tulip Parade." This is the period of blooming of different varieties of bulbous plants, which continues for about a month and a half, the website bgtourism.bg reports. The flowering of 58,000 tulip species that were planted in autumn has already started, together with that of hyacinths, Narcissus and Muscari. In the coming weeks, the tulip, in all its varieties, will be the master of flowers in Balchik.
During the days of the Orthodox Easter, which this year is in the middle of April, guests of the Botanical Garden will be able to have a nice walk and take pictures at the backdrop of 85 varieties of tulips. 47 of these varieties are new, distinguished by diversity in the color spectrum and shades. One can see ordinary, peony-shaped and even multiple flowering tulips that feature many blooms per stem. They are accompanied by flower areas, layered with other types of plants, such as Viola, Myosotis, Erysimum, Silene, etc.
The city of Varna is also a worthy competitor of Balchik when it comes to spring flowers. With a rich palette of colors, the flowering of the "Tulips of Varna" collection in the University Botanic Garden - Ecopark Varna, has already started.
In the autumn of 2022, more than 50,000 tulip bulbs of more than 70 varieties were planted there, which are already welcoming spring with their varied colors and shapes. The tulip collection is combined with two varieties of Muscari and their flowering will last until the beginning of May.
