Bulgarian prosecutors complain in the US and the EU of unlawful pressure

The Bulgarian Association of Prosecutors has sent letters to institutions in the US and the EU in which they "strictly condemn the unlawful pressure exerted on the Bulgarian magistrates". A similar letter was sent a few days ago by the Chamber of Investigators.

The association states that the reason for the letters are attempts to discredit the judiciary and specific magistrates, including the chief prosecutor, by criminal groups, politicians, defendants and accused persons, some of whom are hiding from Bulgarian justice in foreign countries. The prosecutors state that they cannot remain uninvolved when for more than 2 years in Bulgaria "we have witnessed continuous attempts of direct intervention of the executive power in the work of the judiciary", the document reads.
