President Rumen Radev and Vice President Iliana Iotova participated in a ceremony for raising the EU flag in front of the presidential institution. Before that, they laid a wreath in front of the Monument to the Unknown Warrior in Sofia on the occasion of the end of the Second World War and the victory over Nazism.

"78 years after the end of the Second World War, hostilities are again taking place in Europe and peoples expect peace to reign. Ignoring the lessons of history portends tragedies, so it is our duty to remember the horrors of the Second World War, which led to the extermination of tens of millions. Not war, but dialogue and diplomacy are the path to peace and prosperity in Europe, in which every nation has the right to its place and a dignified future," President Radev wrote on Facebook.
