The Citizenship Council with the Ministry of Justice has reported new cases of fake or forged documents used to apply for Bulgarian citizenship by naturalization for reasons of Bulgarian origin.

The documents were intercepted during probes of the records at the Foreign Ministry and the Research Institute of Forensic Sciences. The applicants submitted their naturalization applications personally. The forged documents were used to obtain Bulgarian citizenship under extremely easy terms under the Bulgarian Citizenship Act, according to information by Justice Minister Krum Zarkov referred to the Prosecutor’s Office. This is the second time in five days when Minister Zarkov has approached the Prosecutor’s Office in connection with citizenship applications.
