Sofia University is among the top thousand higher education institutions in the world

Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" occupies 952 place out of a total of 20,531 higher education institutions included in the chart of the Center for World University Rankings for 2023. Sofia University holds 366th place in Europe, according to the rankings.

The Center for World University Rankings publishes the largest academic ranking of world universities. In Bulgaria, the center places Sofia University in first place on a national scale, while its overall score in the world ranking is 70.7 out of 100 possible.

The first three places in the ranking are held by the universities of Harvard, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford. The universities of Cambridge and Oxford occupy 4th and 5th place.
