The war in Ukraine could trigger processes of destabilization in the Balkans, President Radev says

Regional connectivity, military mobility and the potential threats to the region are the issues in the focus of attention of the 16th Conference of the Chiefs of Defence of the Balkan Countries in Sofia.

In his address at the opening of the conference, President Rumen Radev stated that the security architecture in Europe, constructed over decades, is now being degraded, and that this could trigger processes of destabilization, especially in a region that neighbours on the war in Ukraine. That is why President Radev urged the forum to convey the message that the Balkans are a zone of security and stability. The president added that efforts are being made towards energy security and connectivity, transport connectivity and cybersecurity.
