A big festive concert was held in Cyprus today bringing together many Bulgarians, children, parents, teachers to mark the upcoming Day of Bulgarian Culture, Education and Letters - May 24.

It was part of the 25th edition of the Days of Bulgarian Culture in Cyprus and became the culmination of the program of the two-day visit of Bulgaria's Vice President liana Iotova to Cyprus, where she participated in the celebrations of the Bulgarian community and Bulgarian schools, BNR's correspondent in Cyprus Branislava Bobanats reported.

The Bulgarians in Cyprus not only keep the Bulgarian spirit in themselves, but also build bridges to other peoples, said Vice President Iliana Iotova, addressing the people who filled the square in front of the concert stage.

She especially emphasized the Days of Bulgarian Culture in Cyprus held for 25 years in May and the Days of Bulgaria in March. Both events are organized by the Union of Bulgarians in Cyprus, which turned 25 this year.

Bulgaria's Vice President Iliana Iotova joined the students and teachers from the Bulgarian school "Rodna stryaha" in the Cypriot city of Aradippou. She thanked the teachers for their patriotic activity and thanked them for teaching the children to read and write Bulgarian, to know their roots and to be good people.  "Your activity is the best business card of Bulgaria", emphasized the vice president.

Earlier today, Iliana Iotova spoke with representatives of Bulgarian schools and cultural associations from the surrounding area. A representative of the Cypriot Ministry of Education and the Deputy Mayor of Larnaca also participated in the meeting.
