MEP Ivo Hristov from Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament voted against the draft bill to increase European production of ammunition and missiles. The Act in Support of Ammunition Production (ASAP) aims to accelerate the delivery of ammunition and missiles to Ukraine and to help member states restock their arsenals.

The other Bulgarian MEPs from the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats abstained. The draft bill was adopted by a large majority today. In an interview for the BNR’s correspondent in Brussels Angelina Piskova, MEP Petar Vitanov said that he supported the draft bill in the part on increasing the EU's defense capabilities. "It is good to have funds boosting the EU's defense capabilities. This is a step towards the emancipation of the EU, towards the development of a sector, which is important for Bulgaria. The Bulgarian military-industrial complex employs 50,000 people". However, according to Patar Vitanov, the EU should do more to seek peaceful initiatives. Bulgarian MEPs from the other political groups supported the draft bill.
