“Even though there have been lifeguards and medical services at Bulgaria’s beaches since 1 June, tourists are still few and far between, as are the people who go into the sea. In recent years, beach season has been starting after 15-20 June,” Kiril Spassov who is in charge of the larger beaches along the Southern portion of Bulgaria’s Black sea coast said in an interview with the BNR. “The prices of beach umbrellas and sun loungers are the same as they were last summer – 7-10 Leva (EUR 3.5-5)," he said. “The rise in the seasonal prices of beach furniture in Greece will not bring more tourists to the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Conditions on our beaches are in no way inferior to Greek beaches.”
