"The new Bulgarian government expects that the Republic of North Macedonia will accept the amendments to its Constitution, as agreed in the European compromise reached in 2022," said Bulgaria's Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov in a telephone conversation with his North Macedonian colleague Dimitar Kovacevski.

According to the government press service, the Bulgarian Prime Minister pointed out that if the issue of the inclusion of Bulgarians in the basic law of the country was not resolved, the efforts for the positive development of bilateral relations would remain at the secondary level or would not be materliazed. According to him, in both countries there are forces that do not want good neighborly relations and are trying to incite tension.

Finally, Nikolay Denkov has confirmed Bulgaria's support for the integration of the Western Balkans into the EU, including the Republic of North Macedonia, as this is of mutual interest.
