Today, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church celebrates the birth of St. John the ‎Baptist, and according to popular beliefs, this day is dedicated to herbs, which ‎manifest their healing powers the most on this day. The holiday is known in ‎Bulgaria as Enyovden and the ritual associated with the picking of herbs ‎continues to be observed in a number of places in the country. ‎

One of them is the village of Mladen near Sevlievo, where the Festival of ‎Herbs takes place on June 24 and 25. During the two days, its visitors will ‎learn more about the properties of the various herbs that are found in Bulgaria ‎as well as about the beneficial effect they have on human health. A concert by ‎the folk singer Petya Paneva is also expected, as well as an orienteering ‎competition under the name "Labyrinth of Health". ‎

The festival has been part of the events in the village of Mladen since 2013. It ‎is organized every odd year with the aim of uniting artisans, beekeepers, as well ‎as those tempted by the healing power of herbs.‎
