Bulgaria occupies 30th place among 163 countries in the new edition of the ranking for countries according to their level of peacefulness - Global Peace Index (GPI). The ranking is based on 24 indicators, such as the level of conflicts, aggression, insecurity, risks, crime, militarization. In the list, Bulgaria is ahead of countries such as Turkey, Serbia, France, Spain, Greece and North Macedonia.

The most peaceful countries in the world are Iceland, Denmark, Ireland, New Zealand and Austria, and the most dangerous - Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, Russia and Ukraine.

Compared to 2022, Bulgaria loses 5 places because of the indicators for political stability and relations with neighboring countries, as the index takes into account the dispute between Sofia and Skopje.
