The possible sale of the equipment for the second Bulgarian nuclear power plant in Belene to Ukraine would be a mistake, the Chairman of the Bulgarian Atomic Forum Bogomil Manchev said for the BNR. Bogomil Manchev suggested that the rush to sell the equipment to Ukraine is connected with the possible visit of Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to Bulgaria.

“Why can Ukraine use Russian equipment and Bulgaria cannot?”, Bogomil Machev asked. In his words, the Belene NPP could be completed without Russian participation. “We must wait for the feasibility study by the French company EDF”, said Bogomil Manchev. In his words, Bulgaria bought the equipment for EUR 700 million and wants to sell it for EUR 600 million.
