With 157 votes "for" and 57 "against", the National Assembly supported a declaration in support of Ukraine's membership in NATO after peace is restored on its territory. The declaration was supported by GERB-SDS, PP-DB, MRF and ITN, who filed the declaration. "Vazrazhdane" and "BSP for Bulgaria" voted against.

"The most direct and desirable path to the restoration of peace in Ukraine, the Black Sea region and Europe is the complete and immediate voluntary withdrawal of the Russian Federation from the internationally recognized borders of all sovereign states affected by it," the declaration reads. It calls on the Allies to outline clear parameters on the way to Ukraine's NATO membership at the Summit in Vilnius /July 11-12/.

"Major NATO members express reservations about accepting Ukraine into NATO, as it would mean putting the entire Alliance at war against Russia and that means a global war. We are in a hurry while we are just a few hundred kilometers away and we can become a front line country," BSP leader Korneliya Ninova said, quoted by BNT.
