Bulgarian pupils earn gold, silver and bronze medal at International Biology Olympiad

Bulgaria’s top-performing school students in biology won three medals at the International Biology Olympiad in the United Arab Emirates, the Natural Sciences Olympic Teams Association has announced. They competed with 320 contestants from 80 countries, and had to solve theoretical and practical problems in bioinformatics, molecular biology, biochemistry and ecology.

Petar Zhotev from the Sofia High School of Mathematics, who has been accepted to Trinity College in Cambridge, won the gold medal, Victor Lilov, again from the Sofia High School of Mathematics, the silver and Victoria Ivanova from the High School of Mathematics in Pleven, the bronze.
