Animals at the Sofia Zoo cool off with ice cream

Photo: Facebook / Sofia Zoo

The Sofia Zoo offers its residents fruity ice cream cakes, water and plenty of shadow amid the summer heatwaves. Bears, monkeys and some other zoo residents get a special ice cream made of their favourite frozen fruits and vegetables.

There is a rare herbivorous animal at the zoo- the Takin of Bhutan. It lives in the rocky hills of the Himalayas. On hot summer days, it prefers to stay indoors where there is water and shade, and the temperature is close to the one in its natural habitat. A monkey of the species Hanuman langur was recently born in the zoo, which happened for the first time in its history.
