The State Agency for Bulgarians Abroad has published instructions regarding the procedure for the authentication of Bulgarian origin. Applicants for visa D at Bulgaria’s diplomatic missions abroad on grounds of Bulgarian origin can go to a consular mission for translation and certification of the original documents proving Bulgarian origin, and authentication of a Bulgarian national identity declaration. The applicants shall send the full set of documents by post or courier to the Agency at their own expense. The Agency shall accept, register and make a decision on the existence of Bulgarian origin. When there is a posting on the issuance of a Bulgarian origin certificate on the Agency’s website, the applicant shall make a copy of it and attach it to the application documents. If all other documents proving grounds for the issuance of visa D are in order, upon arrival in Bulgaria the applicant shall submit an application at the Migration Directorate.
